As Privacy Counsel, North America, Vicky Gage-Bernheimer has provided legal guidance to Accenture focusing on healthcare, HIPAA, EU Data Protection, incorporating privacy by design into technology solutions, advising on risk assessments and negotiating data privacy contractual agreements.  Vicky has also designed and conducted privacy training including privacy basics, data transfer agreements, and HIPAA.

Vicky has previously served as Data Privacy Officer, Avanade Inc., Assistant General Counsel, Privacy, at Aon Corporation, Privacy Sr. Manager at Allstate, and Trial Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company.

As Data Privacy Officer, North America, Vicky Gage-Bernheimer was responsible for facilitating compliance with Avanade's Privacy Policy, data management policy, and global regulations in connection with the protection and processing of personal data by Avanade.   Vicky focused on HIPAA, building privacy and security into mobile application development, and advising information technology stakeholders and executive leadership on data protection and security regulatory requirements. Vicky also advised on data privacy matters for global client and supplier contracts.

Vicky is a broad-based privacy legal professional with extensive experience in privacy, corporate, field legal offices, compliance, financial services, healthcare, claims, technology and litigation areas.  Vicky has previously developed and implemented data protection programs with a focus on safeguarding personal information, data breach management and reporting, vendor management and assessment, and compliance with financial services requirements.  She has previously led in-house legal teams and demonstrated results in achieving strategic organizational, legal goals as well as assuring compliance with HIPAA, GLB, OFAC, and other data protection regulatory mandates.  She has provided key privacy analysis and legal counsel regarding mobile applications, the E.U. Privacy Directive, Safe Harbor Remediation, as well as negotiated privacy and security contractual language for client and vendor agreements.

Vicky has also spoken and presented at conferences and panels on various data privacy issues, including PLI Privacy and Security, as well as   on “How Private Is ‘Private’: Trends on Data Collection, Tracking and Sharing,” in Philadelphia, PA, and “Privacy Hot Topic: BYOD and Mobile Application Development” for the Chicago Bar Association.  She is licensed in both Illinois and Louisiana.
