Toi Denise Houston

Ms. Houston, an Assistant United States Attorney, works closely with federal law enforcement, as well as, local and state law enforcement and prosecutors in investigating and prosecuting white collar crimes.

Professional Experience
Ms. Houston has worked for over 18 years as a white collar criminal prosecutor with over 50 federal jury trials. She has successfully litigated complex cases including money laundering, financial institution fraud, securities fraud, racketeering, regulatory violations, and environmental crimes. Additionally, she has written numerous briefs and participated in oral arguments, criminal and civil, before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining the United States Attorney's Office, Ms. Houston was an Assistant States Attorney who prosecuted numerous bench and jury trials, wrote many briefs and participated in oral arguments before the Illinois Appellate Court.

Ms. Houston has held and continues to hold the following positions within her office: Financial Fraud Enforcement Coordinator; Chair of the Identity Theft & Financial Crimes Task Force; Lead Criminal AUSA for the Environmental Crimes Task Force; U.S. Department of Justice Identity Theft Enforcement Interagency Working Group, Critical Incident Response Team, Regional Bank Fraud Working Group, Anti- Terrorism Task Force (former); SARs Review Team, (former Lead Attorney); Presidential Identity Theft Task Force, Criminal Law Enforcement Subgroup (former)

Ms. Houston has the following bar admissions: State of Illinois, Northern District of Illinois, Northern District of Indiana, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States Supreme Court. She has also been an adjunct professor at Valparaiso School of Law for over ten (10) years.
