Thomas R. McCormick

Tom has held the position of Group Compliance & Ethics Officer from 27 October 2008.  He is responsible for promoting, overseeing and building the Group's capability to deliver compliance with externally defined laws and regulations, the Code of Conduct and related Group Standards.
 
Prior to his current assignment, Tom was Associate General Counsel and Director of Global Ethics and Compliance for The Dow Chemical Company, located in Midland, Michigan. As the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for the company, he managed the Office of Global Ethics and Compliance and advised senior management on the most effective ways to maintain compliance with legal requirements and company values and policies. In this position, he directed and coordinated activities involving the company's ethics and compliance effort including communications, training, and internal investigations. He coordinated Dow's geographical ethics and compliance committees in Latin America, North America, Europe, and Pacific areas as well as Dow's subsidiary, Dow AgroSciences.

Tom joined the Litigation Section of Dow's Legal Department in 1986 after several years in private law practice.

From 1989 to 1994, he held legal assignments in Dow's Michigan Division, including the position of Michigan Division Counsel where he had management responsibility for all legal issues involving Dow's Michigan manufacturing sites. In 1993 and 1994, he was appointed by Governor John Engler to serve on the Michigan Natural Resources Management and Environmental Code Commission, which reviewed and reorganized all of Michigan's environmental and natural resources laws into a single code.
In 1994, Tom returned to the corporate headquarters where he had legal department management responsibility for environment, health and safety and a number of manufacturing sites. In 1998, he developed and implemented Dow's global ethics and compliance programme.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University in 1974 and a Juris Doctor Degree from the Arizona State University School of Law in 1978. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association, the Ethics and Compliance Officer Association, and the Ethics Resource Center Fellows Program.
