Background

Tal is a Partner in KPMG’s Financial Services Tax Practice and focuses on leading business strategy for the National Insurance Tax Practice.  Tal has more than 20 years of tax experience in both public accounting and leading financial services firms.  Prior to joining KPMG, Tal was Global Head of Tax at AIG.  Prior to AIG, Tal served as the Co-Head of Global Tax Accounting at Citigroup and prior to Citigroup, he was with Ernst & Young in New York.

Professional and Industry Experience

  • Led a globally integrated, functionally aligned, tax department that focused on delivering value to customers through tax expertise in global tax strategy, global tax reporting and analysis and business specialty tax.
  • Led the AIG’s tax department through the financial crisis, including playing a key role in developing the transactions that successfully set the company to exit from government ownership.
  • Provide insight to the Board of Directors and certain committees of the Board with respect to transactions, tax risk matters and tax legislation.
  • Development of global tax operating model that challenges every aspect of way of working and focuses on people, processes and technology.
  • Development and implementation of transactions that optimize tax.
  • Identify and develop talent; the next generation of tax leaders.

Technical Skills

Tal has experience with a wide range of tax issues, including the taxation of insurance, financial instruments, international tax, mergers, acquisitions & divestitures, transfer pricing, tax controversy and tax accounting.
