Steven M. Cohen was appointed Counselor and Chief of Staff in January 2007. From 1998 until his appointment, Mr. Cohen was a partner at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. From 1991 through 1998, Mr. Cohen served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York and chief of that Office's Violent Gangs Unit. Mr. Cohen was a law clerk to the Honorable Frank X. Altimari of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Honorable Stanley Sporkin of the U.S. District Court for the District of Washington, D.C. In addition, Mr. Cohen is an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School and previously served as the Chairman of the Mayor's Committee on New York City Marshals.

Mr. Cohen is a graduate of New York University and University of Pennsylvania Law School.
