Roberta K. McInerney joined the FDIC as Deputy General Counsel (Consumer & Legislation) in October of 2007. From February 1 through May 3 of 2009, she served as Acting General Counsel. In June, 2010, she became Deputy General Counsel (Corporate, Consumer, Insurance & Legislation), reflecting her increased responsibilities at the FDIC.

Before joining the FDIC, she served for 10 years as the Treasury Department's Assistant General Counsel for Banking & Finance, with lead responsibility for advising the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance and his senior policy team on financial services legislation and regulation, and government finance. Earlier in her career, Ms. McInerney served in the Federal Reserve Board's Legal Division, as Banking Counsel to Representative John LaFalce, and in the FDIC's Office of Legislative Affairs. She earned her law degree from the George Washington University Law School while working full-time to finance her education.
 Ms. McInerney has received numerous awards and honors over her career, including the President's Meritorious Executive Award in 2004, the Secretary of the Treasury's Distinguished Service Award in 2007, and the FDIC Chairman's Annual Award for Excellence in 2009.
