Dr. Danis is the Assistant Director of the Risk Supervised Broker-Dealer (“RSBD”) Program in the Division of Trading and Markets.  The RSBD Program supervises broker-dealers that utilize internal statistical models to compute market and credit risk deductions, and staff meets regularly with senior risk managers and other personnel at the broker-dealers to discuss their financial and operational condition.  Prior to joining the SEC in 2004, she was an Economist with the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight and the Census Bureau.  She received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

She has taught at George Mason University’s School of Management, Duke University’s Department of Economics, and the University of North Carolina’s Department of Economics.  She has published in a variety of scholarly journals including the Journal of Economics & Business, the Journal of Fixed Income, and Urban Geography and served as a referee for a number of journals including Journal of Risk Finance, Journal of Credit Risk, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
