Matt Giordano is the Chief Accountant for the Division of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.  Matt is responsible for interpreting new accounting regulations and directing the financial reporting and accounting practices of investment companies in compliance with the federal securities laws.  He works closely with the Commissioners and their counsel, other Divisions within the Commission, registrants, auditors and investors and provides accounting guidance on numerous practice issues.  Matt served for over 2.5 years as an Assistant Chief Accountant for the Division before assuming his current position.  Matt frequently discusses Investment Company accounting rules and industry practice issues at regional and national conferences.

Prior to joining the Commission, Matt was a Senior Manager at KPMG LLP, where he worked for approximately ten years specializing in audit and attest engagements for various investment management clients. Matt was also a KPMG national instructor focusing on technical accounting and audit methodology topics.

Matt received his BBA with a focus in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts and a MSA from Boston College.  Matt is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Massachusetts and New York.
