Martin Kimel is a Senior Special Counsel in the Division of Investment Management. In that role, he reviews recommendations to the Commission regarding enforcement actions involving the Investment Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act, and he advises Enforcement staff on investigations and cases relating to investment advisers, investment companies and hedge funds. He also undertakes special projects for IM’s Chief Counsel. Prior to serving in IM’s Office of Enforcement Liaison and the Office of Chief Counsel, Mr. Kimel spent three years in the SEC’s Office of International Affairs. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate of Stanford Law School, where he was an editor of the law review.
