Kendric Cobb serves as Managing Counsel at Morton Salt, Inc.  Kendric joined Morton as Senior Counsel in 2016 has focused his efforts on strengthening the company’s compliance program while also managing its legal needs in the areas of labor, employment, benefits, immigration, and related litigation.  He reports to the General Counsel and is located in the Chicago head office.

Prior to Morton Salt, Kendric served in the Litigation, Labor and Employment Section of the Legal Services Division at Caterpillar Inc.  Located at the Peoria headquarters, Kendric managed a wide range of employment, product, commercial, insurance coverage, and mass tort litigation while providing advice and counsel on all areas of employment law in the U.S. and Canada.

Kendric has long been active in pro bono activities and represented pro bono clients in a variety of civil litigation matters ranging from criminal records to family law.  In addition, Kendric serves as Board Secretary and a Director of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, the statewide organization responsible for distributing state appropriated funds to support not-for-profit legal aid programs. 

Kendric previously served a term on the Board of Directors for the Cook County Bar Association, the oldest organization of African American lawyers and judges in the County.  He also served four years on the Board of Directors for the Crittenton Centers, a not-for-profit crisis nursery and child development organization serving the Peoria area. 

Before Kendric made the transition to an in-house practice, he was an Associate at three law firms in Chicago:  Winston & Strawn, LLP, Butler Rubin, LLP, and Reed Smith, LLP where he worked on a wide array of civil and criminal litigation matters for corporate clients.  

Kendric is a native of Champaign; a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois College of Law; and an eternally hopeful Illini fan.
