Jon Perry is a corporate finance lawyer based in Hong Kong. He specialises in cross-border M&A, and equity capital markets work, with a particular focus on mining, infrastructure and natural resources. Jon is qualified as a solicitor in England and Hong Kong. He has practiced in both our London and Hong Kong offices, and has worked across the Asian region.  He acts on a wide range of mergers, acquisitions and takeovers, IPOs and other equity raisings, joint ventures and restructurings.

In addition, he regularly acts for Hong Kong listed companies on their Listing Rules obligations, including advising in relation to HSBC Holdings, Prudential, SBI Holdings, IRC, Winsway, Hang Seng Bank, Shun Tak Holdings, Smartone, MGM China and ASM Pacific.

Relevant experience includes:
  • Advising mining company IRC on its approx HK$2 billion initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and US$240 million strategic placement.
  • Advising Creat Resources Holdings on a 20% investment into ASX Listed Galaxy Resources, a lithium producer.
  • Advising a Chinese purchaser on the acquisition of a Kezakh gold mining group.
  • Advising ASX Listing Hazelwood Resources, a lithium miner, on a joint venture for downstream processing in Vietnam.
  • Advising Chongqing Chonggang Minerals on its acquisition from Sinom of a stake in Asia Iron Holdings, an Australian iron ore mining company.
  • Advising the underwriters on a potential Hong Kong IPO of a mining company with assets in South Africa.
  • Advising underwriters on the rights issues of Hong Kong listed companies Esprit Holdings Limited, Dah Sing Banking Corporation, Lai Sun Development, Global Bio-chem and New World China Land.
  • Advising on various Hong Kong takeovers including the takeovers of AsiaSat, Alibaba.com, Times Ltd., Tai Fook Securities, HAECO, Rojam, and Wheelock Property.
  • Advising the major shareholder on the IPO on MGM China.
