John Wells

John Wells is an Assistant Litigation Deputy in the Office of Enforcement at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He manages investigations and litigation by a team of approximately 20 enforcement attorneys in the Bureau’s four regional offices.

Before joining the CFPB, Mr. Wells was a member of the White Collar practice group at White & Case, LLP in Washington, DC, working on criminal and related civil litigation. Before that, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Karen J. Williams of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

John received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was the Managing Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal.
