Jamie is a Senior Attorney in the Division of Privacy and Identity Protection at the Federal Trade Commission.  He investigates and prosecutes violations of consumer privacy and information security under Section 5 of the FTC Act, the FCRA, the PHR Health Breach Notification Rule, and the GLB Act.  Jamie’s recent enforcement actions include Turn, TRUSTe, Path, Compete, Spokeo, ScanScout, and Ceridian.  He is also active in bankruptcy matters involving the potential sale of personal information, notably In re RadioShack Corporation et al.  Between 2008 and 2010, Jamie served as an Attorney Advisor to Commissioner Pamela Jones Harbour, focusing on consumer protection matters.

Jamie began his legal career at the Commission in the Division of Financial Practices.  He served as part of the litigation team in FTC v. Ameridebt, Inc., then the Commission’s largest case against a deceptive credit counseling and debt management firm.  Jamie also brought several cases brought pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Jamie received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from the University of Michigan, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.  Jamie also holds a Master of Public Policy and Master of Science in Information, Economics, Management, and Policy, both from the University of Michigan.
