James Hopenfeld is a former partner of Fish & Neave and Ropes & Gray, and a former Honors Program Trial Attorney for the United States Department of Justice. His practice encompasses intellectual property litigation, licensing, and portfolio management. Mr. Hopenfeld has experience litigating in courts throughout the United States, including district courts in Delaware, California, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, the United States International Trade Commission, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the Board of Appeals of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His litigation and counseling experience includes a wide range of technologies, from analog circuits and computers, to telecommunications systems, to medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Hopenfeld is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School and an Officer of the Giles S. Rich American Inn of Court. He was previously a law clerk for the Hon. Roderick R. McKelvie of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.

Mr. Hopenfeld is admitted to practice in California, the District of Columbia, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
