Gary A. Goodman heads the New York legacy Real Estate practice and the firm's legacy Real Estate, Retails and Hotels Sector. He has extensive experience with financing transactions, specifically in the area of real estate finance, representing domestic and foreign institutional lenders and borrowers in fee and leasehold construction and term financings, refinancings, mezzanine financings and workouts. Gary routinely represents agent banks in syndicated loans and in dealing with the co-lenders not only during the syndication process, but also during the term of the loan. He also represents prospective co-lenders and participating banks who are considering becoming part of existing bank groups.

Experience

  • Representing the New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA) in connection with the restructuring of its distressed commercial mortgage loan portfolio, comprised of 43 loans secured by housing projects in the Mitchell-Lama affordable housing program.
  • Representing a major international bank in its capacity as administrative agent, syndication agent and lender originating a US$244 million construction loan for a 250-unit residential condominium project in downtown Manhattan on land leased from the Battery Park City Authority. The project included retail space, community space, storage space and a garage.
  • Representing a major international bank in its capacity as administrative agent, syndication agent and lender originating a US$203.75 million construction loan for a 199-unit residential condominium project in Lower Manhattan. The project included retail and storage space and the acquisition of development rights from multiple sources.
  • Representing a major international bank in its capacity as administrative agent, syndication agent and lender originating a US$260 million construction loan for a 264-unit residential condominium project in downtown Manhattan on land leased from the Battery Park City Authority. The project included retail space, community space and a garage, together with an intercreditor agreement with a US$74 million mezzanine loan from a prominent mezzanine lender.
  • Representing a major international bank in its capacity as administrative agent, syndication agent and lender originating a US$200 million revolving credit line to a major national real estate fund, which credit line is secured by an assignment of unfunded capital commitments by the fund's investors.
