Erin Maxwell is a social worker at Legal Services for Children. At Legal Services for Children she works primarily with immigrant children in deportation proceedings. Erin conducts legal intakes and provides Know Your Rights presentations to detained children in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement. In addition, she provides clinical case management services to immigrant children residing in the community. Erin works with children that have experienced severe child abuse and neglect, as well as those that have been the victims of human trafficking. Prior to coming to Legal Services for Children, Erin worked for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services advocating on behalf of, and making best interest recommendations for, unaccompanied detained immigrant children and youth. She obtained her Masters in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006 and has been working with immigrants and refugees both domestically and internationally since that time.
