Edward J. Park

New York, NY, USA

In 1996, Ed started his legal career as an attorney in the tax department of Shearman & Sterling LLP, where he specialized in the taxation of complex financial and corporate transactions. After seven years in private practice, Ed worked for two years at Citigroup Global Markets as in-house tax counsel, covering the structured capital markets and equity derivatives desks.

In early 2007, Ed joined AIG as Tax Director of the Financial Services Division, which included AIG Financial Products, ILFC (one of the world’s largest aircraft lessors), and other non-insurance businesses of AIG.  During and after the financial crisis, he served as AIG’s tax leader on its global restructuring, including both Maiden Lane transactions, the sale of ILFC, and many other transactions.  Ed has continued to represent AIG and its strategic interests in meetings with the IRS and US Treasury and in industry groups.  He also founded and chaired AIG’s Tax Planning Committee, which reviews all proposed transactions with material tax benefits and/or tax risk to AIG or its affiliates and makes recommendations to senior management.  Ed joined AIG Portfolio Solutions in early 2013 as Managing Director.  In that role he led the research and development of new transactional strategies and solutions addressing the AIG group’s commercial, regulatory capital, risk management, tax, accounting, and operational objectives and issues.

Ed was a member of the Board of Directors of Wall Street Tax Association and chaired its Federal/Financial Products Committee.
