Douglas (Chip) A. Rettew is a partner in the Washington DC office of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, where he chairs the firm’s trademark and copyright group.  Doug focuses his practice on trademark, design patent, false advertising, and unfair competition litigation.  He has acted as lead counsel for cases in courts around the country and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and has first-chair jury trial experience.  He also has acted as lead counsel in appeals before various U.S. Courts of Appeal.  Doug is routinely recognized by his peers and in-house counsel as one the country’s leading trademark lawyers.

For several years, Doug served as an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University Law School, where he taught Trademark and Unfair Competition law.  Doug frequently speaks before various intellectual property and other organizations and has published a number of articles in international journals.  He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
