Carter Stewart is a litigation associate representing clients in a variety of substantive areas, including contract disputes, accountant liability cases, commercial insurance litigation, personal injury claims, and pro bono civil rights matters.  Currently, Carter is assisting clients engaged in reinsurance arbitrations, an appeal before the Second Circuit, and in multistate litigation regarding mortgage insurance.

Before joining Butler Rubin in 2013, he was a litigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, where he also served as a summer associate. 

Carter also served as a judicial clerk following law school for the Hon. Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain, U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Before attending law school, he worked for two years as an 8th grade math teacher in Philadelphia, assisting economically disadvantaged students through a Teach for America program
