Brian J. Kreiswirth joined the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in January 2012 and is currently a Deputy Fair Lending Director in the Office of Fair Lending & Equal Opportunity, focusing on fair lending prioritization, research, regulations, and supervision. Previously he directed the Fair Lending Programs at American Express and Citigroup, respectively, focusing on increasing awareness around fair lending issues and institutionalizing processes for ensuring robust fair lending review of business initiatives. Prior to his stint in the private sector, Brian worked in the Civil Rights Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office, focusing in particular on the areas of fair lending and mortgage fraud. Brian received a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in 1994, a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford (U.K.) in 1996, and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1999. After graduating law school, he clerked for the Hon. John M. Walker, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
