Experience:

  • Over 11 years of investment banking experience in Asia advising on numerous M&A, capital markets and financial restructuring transactions
  • Prior to Moelis, Ben served as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in the Financial Institutions Group as well as in the M&A and Sponsors Coverage teams in Hong Kong.  Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ben also worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong within its Technology Media and Telecom team

  • Advised on the restructuring of Mongolian Mining Corporation’s USD600mm of high yield notes
  • Advised on the restructuring of c.USD2.5bn of offshore high yield notes and convertible bonds as part of the overall c.USD11bn restructuring of Kaisa Group Holdings
  • Advised HKSE-Listed Li Ning Company on its sale of a 10% stake in Double Happiness to affiliate Viva China
  • Advised UTAC Holdings (TPG/Affinity) on the acquisition of 3 businesses from Panasonic during their dispute with Bondholders over their refinanced high yield loans
  • Advised Navis Capital on the sale of its Singapore-based portfolio company Mentor Media to Elanders AB of Sweden
  • Advised the management of SpeedCast on the corporate carve-out and buyout of SpeedCast from AsiaSat and selling a controlling stake to TA Associates
  • Advised eBuddy BV on its partial sale to and investment by Gree, Inc of Japan
  • Advised CVC on the USD1.5bn re-IPO of Matahari Department Store (awarded the Best Indonesia Deal and Best Equity Deal of 2013 by FinanceAsia)
  • Advised CIMB Group on its GBP174mm acquisition of select Asia Pacific cash equities and investment banking businesses from RBS
  • Advised JTI on its successful USD265mm privatization of JT International Berhad in Malaysia
  • Advised Temasek Holdings on its up to GBP200mm participation in Barclays Plc’s GBP4.5bn share issue
  • Advised Temasek Holdings on the sale of Fullerton Financial Holdings and Kookmin Bank’s interest in Bank Internasional Indonesia for USD1.2bn to Maybank
  • Advised and acted as sole bookrunner on Trina Solar Limited’s USD107mm IPO
