Audrey Strauss is a litigation partner resident in Fried Frank's New York office.  She joined the Firm as a partner in 1990.

Ms. Strauss represents institutions and individuals in white-collar criminal defense and regulatory matters. She also handles internal investigations and a broad range of civil litigations, including matters that run parallel to grand jury and United States Securities and Exchange Commission matters.

Prior to joining Fried Frank, Ms. Strauss served in the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York from 1975 to 1982. During that time, she was Chief Appellate Attorney, responsible for the supervision of the office's criminal appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Chief of the Fraud Unit, where she supervised all securities and other fraud cases prosecuted by the US Attorney's Office.

Ms. Strauss served as a law clerk to the Hon. Lawrence W. Pierce, then District Judge for the Southern District of New York and, subsequently, Circuit Judge for the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Ms. Strauss has spoken and written for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Practising Law Institute. She writes a regular column on corporate criminal issues for the New York Law Journal. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, president of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers (NYCDL) and vice president of the Federal Bar Council. She was named in December 2001 by The National Law Journal as one of the country's top 50 women litigators. In 2006, she was appointed to the New York Police Department's newly formed four-member legal advisory committee, which was established with the purpose of giving legal and policy advice on a variety of matters, including policing demonstrations and intelligence gathering.

Ms. Strauss is consistently recognized by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business as a leading individual in Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations and Securities Regulation (National). She is consistently recognized by Legal 500 in Litigation: White-Collar Criminal Defense, and is also consistently recognized by Benchmark: Litigation as a "National Star" and a "Local Litigation Star." In addition, she was honored with the Robert M. Morgenthau Award by the Police Athletic League of New York in April 2011, the Whitney North Seymour Award by the Federal Bar Council for "outstanding public service by a private practitioner" at the organization's annual conference in February 2010 and the Norman Ostrow Award by the New York Council of Defense Lawyers in March 2002.

Ms. Strauss received her JD from Columbia University Law School in 1971, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a Kent Scholar, and her BA, cum laude, from Barnard College in 1968. She is admitted to practice in New York, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
