Andrea L. Colby, Principal of Pro Se LLC—Coaching for Lawyers, is a patent attorney and certified professional executive coach. Throughout her 35+ year legal career, Andrea worked in the corporate and private sectors at Johnson & Johnson, Morgan & Finnegan and Union Carbide Corporation.  Her career encompassed a full range of substantive intellectual property legal support for clients including patent licensing, patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation strategy, trademark and copyright litigation, patent interferences and client counseling.  In addition, as a member of the Johnson & Johnson Intellectual Property Management group, Andrea was responsible for providing management consultation to the Law Department for many years.  Andrea retired from Johnson & Johnson in 2016 to pursue coaching attorneys on a fulltime basis.

As an executive coach specializing in supporting newly-admitted attorneys, Andrea helps her clients develop their professional voice by improving their communication skills and assisting them in building their self-confidence.

Andrea serves on several non-profit boards, and plays a key leadership role in support of several organizations including Albany Law School of Union University, Young Audiences of New Jersey-Eastern Pennsylvania, and Congregation Neve Shalom.

Andrea obtained her B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, her J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University and her M.A. in Organizational Management from the Fielding Graduate Institute. Andrea is also a graduate of the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching.  She received her accreditation as an Associate Certified Coach from the International Coaching Federation in 2016.
