    This presentation will provide an overview of federal tax law issues for advisors to nonprofit organizations. After completing this session, participants will be able to:

    • Understand exempt purposes and the organizational and operational tests of Section 501(c)(3)
    • Identify different ways to qualify as a public charity and how to calculate public support
    • Recognize key concepts such as private benefit, private inurement, and intermediate sanctions
    • Understand fundamental unrelated business income tax (UBIT) rules and exceptions
    • Review ongoing compliance and reporting obligations for Section 501(c)(3) organizations
