Overview

The emergence of big data and advanced techniques for analyzing that data give companies the opportunity to detect product safety and quality issues earlier and in more effective ways than they have in the past.  Regulators expect companies to have systems and controls to quickly identify and mitigate product problems.  Companies can increase customer satisfaction, improve their brand, and avoid costly warranty and recall costs.   This session will provide real world techniques and examples of how companies can implement cutting edge techniques and processes to address this challenge and opportunity.  Jonathan Judge of Schiff Hardin LLP and Gregory C. Swinehart of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP will provide a multi-disciplinary discussion covering the following topics, among others:

  • Identification of traditional and emerging sources of data that read on product safety and quality
  • Discussion of various techniques for the analysis of this data from traditional classical statistics to advancements in machine learning and natural language processing
  • Case studies from actual client matters where such systems have been successfully implemented
  • Dealing with relevant regulatory agencies especially given the evolving expectations of those agencies with the advent of big data and advanced analytics
