Overview

With an economic slowdown potentially on the horizon, debt issuers may need to restructure their obligations, and must pay careful attention to the potential tax consequences of doing so. Volatility in cryptocurrency prices has created planning opportunities, as well as potential pitfalls in that arena. Additionally, old issues such as those involving straddles, constructive sales, and foreign currency have taken on new importance, given the volatility in the equities and currency markets. This year’s program will help attendees understand the impact of these new developments on the taxation of financial products and transactions, while also exploring familiar topics.
