Overview

International Investment Law & Investor-State Dispute Settlement 2022 provides an overview of the evolving law and practice of this critical transnational practice area. This program examines this topic from a balanced perspective, considering the positions of both sovereign States facing such disputes and affected investors considering or in the process of international arbitration proceedings against host States under bilateral investment treaties and other international investment agreements.  With a focus on both the theoretical aspects of International Investment Law and the practical aspects of Investor-State Dispute Settlement, this program provides insight into both the global and regional realities of International Investment Law & Investor-State Dispute Settlement in today’s world. Recent geopolitical and economic developments, and particularly Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, are likely to manifest in a surge of investor-State arbitration cases in the near future, making it all the more important that those affected have a better understanding of the current state of the law, practice and jurisprudence in what is one of the fastest developing areas of public international law.
