Overview
Various federal agencies have made significant efforts in regulating the digital asset space, including bringing investigations and enforcement actions against cryptocurrency exchanges and market participants. The SEC, DOJ, and CFTC in particular have made headlines for aggressive enforcement and bringing first-of -its-kind cases. Those critical of the agencies’ enforcement have been just as vocal.
During the session, BakerHostetler LLP attorneys Teresa Goody Guillén, Michelle N. Tanney, and Veronica Reynolds will focus on this evolving regulatory and enforcement landscape by highlighting some of the efforts and focus areas of government agencies to police this marketplace and its participants.
The Briefing will focus on the following topics:
- An overview of the digital asset landscape (10 minutes)
- The regulatory and enforcement regime and the players exercising jurisdiction over digital assets (20 minutes)
- How to effectively respond to a government inquiry, including navigating voluntary requests and subpoenas, and the utility of cooperation (30 minutes)
