In March 2024, the antitrust chief of the California Department of Justice announced that the Attorney General’s Office intends to revitalize criminal antitrust prosecutions under the Cartwright Act, one of California’s primary antitrust laws. The Attorney General’s Office has not brought a criminal prosecution under the Cartwright Act in over 25 years.
