Overview

Most companies have now developed a framework for compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA). Having a compliance program in place is critical, and that includes preparing for the inevitable onslaught of class action litigation that is coming. During this program, our speakers will provide an update on the latest updates on the CCPA and preparation for litigation.

Key topics include:

  • An update on the CCPA regulations
  • Upcoming enforcement starting July 1, 2020
  • The types of claims we expect to be brought under the CCPA—either directly under the CCPA’s private right of action or indirectly through other laws
  • Tactics for mitigating risk associated with these actions, including steps companies should take now to mitigate litigation risk (e.g., arbitration agreements), as well as defensive measures that can be employed after a lawsuit is filed

Faculty:

  • Lisa J. Sotto, Partner, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP
  • Ann Marie Mortimer, Partner, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP
  • Jason J. Kim, Counsel, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP
