Overview

Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) impacts all industries and makes vast improvements in life sciences, financial services, the provision of health care and the access to information. However, recent headlines about algorithmic bias highlight that AI’s use can raise potential legal issues, such as discrimination in employment contexts and breach of privacy by its access and use of personal data. This Briefing will provide an overview of these and related issues for the benefit of practitioners on “both sides.” Topics to be addressed include:

  • Introduction to the impact of AI on all industries (5 minutes)
  • Summary of key terms (5 minutes)
  • Overview of case law and new and pending state and federal legislation (30 minutes)
  • Conducting AI audits, discovery materials and how might these be protected from disclosure (15 minutes)
  • Conclusions and key takeaways (5 minutes)
