In the United States and around the world, self-regulatory authorities provide important guidance, and resolve challenges, related to the truth of advertising claims and many other issues. Although there are laws that govern advertising, and courts that can resolve advertising disputes, advertising self-regulation plays a critical role in protecting consumers, competitors, and a properly functioning market.
Members of the International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation and the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance will:
- Discuss the different self-regulatory systems around the world;
- Address some of the key issues; and
- Highlight cases they are facing.
