What is the policy on shipping and returns? 

PLI generally provides free shipping on all prepaid U.S. ground orders.  PLI waives regular shipping and handling fees for all prepaid web orders in the United States, U.S. possessions and Canada.  Please allow seven (7) to fourteen (14) business days for delivery.  PLI will not ship items to a P.O. box.  If you require expedited shipping, please call our customer service department at 800.260.4PLI.  PLI does not provide expedited shipping for CD and DVD products.  PLI may not be able to cancel your order after we have started the shipping process.

Shipments returned must be in the same condition as when they were sent.  Please call us at 800.260.4754 to receive a prepaid shipping label before returning your purchase.  For proper credit, you must include a copy of your invoice or packing slip which were sent with your shipment.  All returns go to:

Since I have the book on a 30-Day approval what happens if I don't decide to keep the book?

Our book purchases have a 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, simply return it within 30 days for a full refund. Shipments returned must be in the same condition as when they were sent. Please see above for details on returns. 


Are the updates to treatises free?

If your purchase includes “Upkeep Service,” your purchase will also sign you up for our “Upkeep Service” continuity shipment plan, whereby you will receive future automatic shipments of updates, new editions and supplements to this edition as they become available for a 30-day preview. Updates, new editions and supplements published within 90 days of your purchase will be issued free of charge; all other updates will be subject to an additional charge if kept beyond the 30-day preview period, invoiced at the time of delivery.


What is the Upkeep Service Cancellation Policy?

This service will continue until canceled by you at any time by calling 800.260.4754 (Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time), emailing us at, or returning any automatic shipment within the 30 day preview period.

Updates sent pursuant to our upkeep service are shipped via United States Postal Service (USPS) and standard shipping charges of $7.50 (and $5 for each additional item) apply.


I’d like to have a book shipped internationally. Can I do so?

Absolutely, however international orders do require prepayment.  As such, international customers are never placed on standing order with automatic upkeep, so if you would like future supplements, please contact us so that we may send you an invoice, and ship the product upon receipt of payment.

Please note that the shipping charge for international orders is $90.00.


What is the policy regarding Live Programs as it relates to cancellations and substitutes? 

If you wish to cancel a reservation for a live program, cancellations must be received three (3) business days prior to the start of the program in order to receive a complete refund.  If PLI fails to receive your cancellation three (3) business days prior to the start of the program, payment is due in full.

If you wish to substitute another individual to attend a live program in your place, you may substitute such individual to attend the program at any time prior to the start of the program.

Does my registration include hotel accommodations?

Does PLI offer Closed Captioning in their programs?
Yes, many of our On-Demand Web Programs provide closed captioning. View all On-Demand CLE Programs with Closed Captioning here. After launching a program, please make sure to click the "CC" icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the video screen.


Does PLI have a Scholarship/Financial Hardship Policy?
Yes. Full and partial scholarships are available for judges, judicial law clerks, law professors, law students, attorneys 65 or older, law librarians, attorneys who work for nonprofit organizations, legal services organizations or government agencies, and unemployed attorneys. Scholarship applications must be submitted at least four weeks prior to the Live Seminar, Webcast, or On-demand web program you wish to attend.

How do I know I am logged in?

Can I pause a program?

Live programs cannot be paused. For On Demand programs, closing the program page should be the primary method of stopping playback as the program will automatically save your place. Leaving the program paused for longer than a few minutes can cause discrepancies in credit calculation. We recommend using the bookmarks tool for creating notes and marking significant sections that you would like to review.

Thank you for your interest in speaking for PLI. We are always happy to consider new speakers for our in-person programs and hot topic (audio only) briefings.  For best consideration please forward the following information to so that we can properly direct your inquiry:


  1. A copy of your professional biography, including within your bio any relevant speaking experience;
  2. A list of 3-4 existing PLI programs you might like to speak on (Please note: We will still be able to consider you for other programs, but this will help us guide your information to the appropriate parties);
  3. A brief description of any geographical limitations on your ability to speak on in-person programs; and

What is the difference between a Program, a Live Webcast, an On Demand Web Program, etc.?

Our Programs are in-person programs held at a specific location. Our Live Webcasts are simulcasts of our Live Programs. On Demand Web Programs are our Live Webcasts which have been archived (this process typically occurs within 1-2 weeks). Our Co-Sponsored Groupcast Locations are simulcasts of our Live Programs held at specific locations. Our MP3s(audio) and MP4s(video) are downloadable segments. Our On Demand Web Segments are the segments from our larger On Demand Web Programs. Our One Hour Briefings are up-to-date, current one-hour audio only webcasts, which are also archived and available On Demand within 1-2 weeks of airing.
