Vladimir Elgort joined the Sony Corporation of America IP department in July 2006 and currently serves as the department’s vice president. Before joining Sony Corporation of America, Mr. Elgort was an associate with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and with Chadbourne & Parke LLC in New York City.

At Sony Corporation of America, Mr. Elgort is primarily responsible for IP matters involving Sony and third parties. These matters include offensive and defensive patent licensing, litigation, M&A, venture fund investments, transactions, joint ventures, patent acquisitions and sales, open source and standards-related licensing activities. The Sony Corporation of America IP department also leads various IP-centric strategic alliances and other initiatives that focus on the procurement and development of IP assets. The group works closely with its counterparts in the United States and throughout the world.

Mr. Elgort holds a BA in computer science (with honours) from New York University and a JD from the Benjamin N Cardozo School of Law, where he was an articles editor for the Cardozo Law Review. He is a member of numerous professional and legal organisations, including the National Association of Corporate Directors, the Licensing Executives Society, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board Association and the Intellectual Property Owners Association. He is also a member of the New York and New Jersey Bars.
