Biography

Matthew Podolsky is Co-Chief of the Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.?In that role, he supervises a wide variety of complex investigations, including cases involving insider trading, market manipulation, and investor and accounting fraud. Prior to assuming that position, Mr. Podolsky investigated and prosecuted a wide array of significant securities fraud cases, including investigations that resulted in charges against Bill Hwang, the founder and head of Archegos Capital, for alleged fraud and market manipulation, and in the conviction of Trevor Milton, the founder and former Executive Chairman of Nikola Motor Company, for defrauding investors. 


Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Mr. Podolsky worked as a litigation associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, and served as a law clerk to the Honorable José A. Cabranes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and to the Honorable Gladys Kessler of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Mr. Podolsky holds degrees from Harvard College and Columbia Law School.
