Biography

Mr. Kennedy is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School in cybersecurity and privacy. He also serves as board member, and advisor on business, regulatory, technology and cybersecurity policy matters.


He has extensive experience advising business, boards and senior federal government officials on telecommunications, information and internet, and financial services regulatory and policy matters. He previously served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Sprint, Nextel and Neustar. In addition, he was the founding Associate Director and General Counsel of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. During his tenure at the FCC, he was senior legal advisor to Commissioners Patricia Diaz Dennis and Ervin Duggan.

He was a winner of the Corporate Board’s, America’s Top General Counsel Award in 2008. He has published law review articles on communications law, consumer financial regulation, and the role of technology in society.  

He is an advisory board member of Electronic Privacy Information Center, and a board member of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Policy.

He has taught T’ai Chi for over 35 years.
