Biography

Named a Super Lawyer “Rising Star” in Intellectual Property law for the last six years, Justin M. Jacobson, Esq. is an entertainment and esports attorney in New York City at The Jacobson Firm, P.C.. For the last decade, he has worked with professional athletes, musicians, producers, songwriters, DJs, record labels, entertainment companies, fashion designers, as well as professional gamers, streamers, content creators, coaches, on-air talent, and esports organizations. He assists these individuals and companies with their contract drafting and negotiations, copyrights, trademarks, immigration issues, litigation and other related business and legal issues.  

Justin has positioned himself as a top esports business professional leading Ford Models’ Esports and Gaming talent division and working with talent in a variety of leagues and games such as Call of Duty, Overwatch, Fortnite, CS:GO, Valorant, Gears of War, Halo, Super Smash Brothers, Rainbow 6, PUBG, Madden, NBA 2K, Street Fighter, FIFA, Clash of Clans, Wild Rift, and Call of Duty mobile. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Esports at University of North Carolina Wilmington and has authored the textbook, “The Essential Guide to the Business & Law of Esports & Professional Video Gaming.” He is an Industry Board Advisor for the International Esports Journal and has also served as an Instructor of Music Business at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City for several years. 

Justin is a frequent panelist and guest speaker including at the Esports Business Summit, the Inven Global Esports Conference, the Berkeley Law Sports and Entertainment Conference, Cardozo Law School, FIU Law, Shenandoah University, Sacred Heart University and the ICON Collective music producer school. He is an Associate Member of National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS).  Admitted to the New York State Bar in 2012, a member of the American Bar Association, Justin is also a member of the Bar of the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Earning his law degree from Touro Law Center in New York in 2011, Justin was on the Touro Law Review and served twice as President of the Touro Arts, Entertainment, and Sports Law Society. Justin earned his B.A. in Sociology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
