Isabel Franco leads the Anti-Corruption, Compliance & Investigation team at KLA-Koury Lopes Advogados. Ms. Franco has been highly ranked in international directories such as Chambers & Partners (Band 1) and Latin Lawyer Directories.
Ms. Franco has also been voted as #1 leading corporate counsel in Latin America in Anti-Corruption & Compliance by The Latin American Corporate Counsel Association (LACCA). In addition, Ms. Franco is one of the “One Hundred Women in Investigation” indicated by the Global Investigations Review (GIR), April, 2015.
She is a consultant to several multinationals established in Brazil and has been frequently appointed as an assistant for US for monitors in connection with Deferred Prosecution Agreements. She was appointed in 2017 by the US Department of Justice and Securities Exchange Commission for the monitorship of a Brazilian company with a Plea Agreement with the US authorities.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Franco was an attorney at Demarest e Almeida in São Paulo from 1981 to 1988 when she left to join the British law firm Freshfields, Hong Kong office. In 1990, she moved to New York to launch Demarest e Almeida's New York office where she worked for almost 20 years.
Ms. Franco has an LL.M in International Law from Fordham Law School in New York. She is actively engaged in the legal community, having served as the Chair of the International Law Section of the New York State Bar Association in 2001.
