Genevieve Nelson graduated from Columbia University and St. John’s University School of Law. She is a senior counsel in the Special Federal Litigation Division of the New York City Law Department. Ms. Nelson practices exclusively in federal court handling civil rights matters primarily against the New York City Police Department and the New York City Department of Correction. She has been lead counsel on two class actions as well as supervising attorney on In Re McCray Litigation, the Central Park Jogger litigation.
Prior to joining the Law Department, Ms. Nelson was an associate at Zeichner Ellman & Krause, a financial services and business law firm.
Ms. Nelson is currently a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Character and Fitness Committee of the First Department State of New York.
