Biography

Trained at the University of Vienna, Roland received his Doctor iuris in 1988. He was admitted to the Austrian Bar in 1993 and received his LL.M. in Labor Law from the London School of Economics in 2001.

In 2011, Roland founded the law firm GERLACH Rechtsanwälte and formerly was senior partner of Griesser | Gerlach | Gahleitner, also a distinguished boutique law firm practicing labor and employment law exclusively. Excelling in this practice area, he is regularly listed in the top tiers of Austria’s employment lawyers in various international publications.

Roland is the author of a wide range of publications and is now working on a comprehensive handbook on employment contracts. He regularly speaks at seminars for employment and Human Resources specialists as well as at national and international congresses, especially on the comparative view of employment law in different countries of the EU.

Roland is a member of the Committee of the Bar Association, a representative of Austria on the Board of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), a member of the International Bar Association (IBA), the American Bar Association (ABA) and the Industrial Law Society. In addition to his legal practice, is a regular speaker for various private seminar organizers and the author of numerous publications in the field of labor and employment law.

In February 2020, GERLACH Rechtsanwälte joined Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice. With this expansion, Littler now has presence in eight countries in Europe and 24 around the world. Since February 2020, GERLACH Rechtsanwälte changed its name to GERLACH | Littler.
