Debbie K. Wright retired from Kraft Foods Group, Inc. in Northfield, IL after a 22-year career. As Chief Counsel IP– Technology Transactions, Debbie worked across all of the functions, including R&D, marketing, and supply chain in counseling, negotiating, and drafting IP related agreements and transaction. Previously, she was Chief Counsel Global Patents for Kraft.
Ms. Wright began her career with the North Carolina Department of Justice in Raleigh, North Carolina with primary responsibility for consumer protection and unfair practice matters. She started her patent career as a patent attorney with the former Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Ms. Wright lectures frequently on a variety of intellectual property topics.
Ms. Wright received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Western Carolina University where she was the Dobson Scholar in Biology. She attended the Bowman Gray School of Medicine and received her law degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She is a former President of the Intellectual Property Lawyers Association of Chicago (IPLAC) and Vice-President to the IPLAC Scholarship Foundation. She is on the board of The Richard Linn American Inn of Court, serving as liaison to the Richard Linn Inn Alliance. She is the treasurer for the Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and a Metropolitan Family Services broad member. She serves on the Fund Raising Committee of the Governing Members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and is a member of Chicago Illinois Chapter of The Links Incorporated. Ms. Wright is admitted to practice before the State bars of North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan; the North Carolina U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts as well as the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
