Biography

Danielle Sheer, serves as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT), a leader in data protection and data management software and SaaS solutions. She leads the company’s global legal and compliance teams and its governance, commercial, intellectual property, and privacy programs.

Previously, Danielle served as General Counsel of Bottomline Technologies (NASDAQ: EPAY), a leading provider of financial technology that makes complex business payments simple, smart and secure. In late 2021, Bottomline entered into a going private transaction with leading private equity firm Thoma Bravo.

 Prior to Bottomline, Danielle founded and developed Carbonite’s legal and data privacy/security teams, led Carbonite through its IPO and NASDAQ listing, executed several technology acquisitions and integrations, grew the IP and licensing portfolio from its first patent, established and scaled the global data privacy and security program, and successfully defended against patent troll litigations, a hostile takeover and activist shareholders. In 202, Carbonite sold to OpenText (NASDAQ OTEX).

In 2018, Danielle was honored by Corporate Counsel as one of 2018’s Innovative Women in Law. Previously, she was named to the Boston Business Journal's "Forty under 40" list of emerging business leaders, honored by the Massachusetts Bar Association as an "Emerging Leader" and received the "Maverick of the Year" Stevie award for Women in Business.

Danielle holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from George Washington University. She is admitted to practice in both New York and Massachusetts. She serves on the Board of Directors of Linksquares, the leading provider of the fastest and most comprehensive AI-powered contract lifecycle management and analysis tool, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a world-class teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, and the Steering Committee for TechGC, an independent, invitation-only, peer community for chief legal officers.
