Oscar David is a partner in Winston & Strawn’s Chicago office. He has extensive experience in transactions that range from middle market to complex, cross-border mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate finance and governance matters. His clients include public and privately-held businesses and private equity funds, and he routinely serves as a trusted advisor to their senior executives with respect to sensitive challenges arising from their transactions. His clients cross a number of industries, including technology, manufacturing, private equity, and pharmaceuticals.
Oscar was chair of the firm’s M&A, Securities, and Corporate Governance practice from 2009 to 2015. He is recognized as a leader in M&A law by prestigious publications, including Chambers USA and Legal 500. He is among 15 attorneys in Chicago who were recognized by the Global Counsel 3000 in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. Global M&A Network recognized him in 2013 and 2014 as one of the Top 50 Americas M&A Dealmakers.
Oscar serves on the Board of Trustees of The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago and is on the board of directors of Cure Violence, the mission of which is to reduce violence globally using disease control and behavior change methods.
He is frequently asked to speak on the topics of securities and M&A transactions, and was most recently a guest lecturer at Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Oscar received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 1987 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from George Washington University in 1984.
