Matthew Moffa has a broad intellectual property practice that includes litigating patent infringement claims before the federal courts, prosecuting patents for high-tech companies, and practicing before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Matt represents clients operating in the telecommunications, energy, automotive, life sciences, and consumer service industries. Matt was a patent agent prior to receiving his law degree.
Matt has successfully argued claim constructions and appeals in U.S. district and circuit courts. Behind the scenes, he has penned successful case-dispositive motions, prepared and defended corporate and fact witnesses at deposition, taken depositions of critical party and third-party witnesses, and used motion practice to protect clients from expansive discovery. He has represented clients in mediation and has achieved early and favorable settlements for clients facing costly litigations. He has successfully challenged and defended patents before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has also drafted and prosecuted patent applications for domestic and foreign corporations at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
In recognition of his active pro bono practice before the United States Immigration Court, Matt has twice received the Legal Aid Society Pro Bono Publico Award for individual contributions.
