Jeff Hammer is a Managing Director and Co-Head of Houlihan Lokey’s Illiquid Financial Assets practice, a dedicated team of 15 professionals that creates liquidity solutions for illiquid fund, asset and liability situations. Mr. Hammer has been retained by hedge funds, banks, private equity sponsors, asset managers, business development companies, family offices, insurance companies, and institutional investors. He has executed transactions involving fund partnerships, minority equity positions, debt securities, life settlements, litigation claims, pharmaceutical royalties, capital leases, mining rights, trade receivables and other esoteric assets.
Mr. Hammer has over three decades of experience in principal investing, investment banking, and building businesses in the private markets. Immediately prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Hammer was a Senior Managing Director at Bear Stearns, where he was Global Head of Origination for the Private Funds Group and Co-Head of Private Equity Advisors, the secondary investment unit. Prior to Bear Stearns, Mr. Hammer co-founded BDC Financial Inc., a firm that provided customized private equity investment management that was sold to Bear Stearns in 2004. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hammer worked in principal investing and investment banking at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and AEW. He received an A.B. from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard University.
