Espy is a Senior Staff Attorney at the Legal Aid Society's (LAS) Brooklyn Neighborhood Office and has held several positions at LAS throughout her legal career of 26 years. Her work has addressed the areas of housing, Social Security disability benefits, immigration, and welfare benefits. From May 1997 through June 2015, Espy served as Co-Director of Project FAIR Inc., a collaborative non-profit organization (of which LAS was a partner) working to increase access to information about public benefits, administrative fair hearings, and community services to low-income and homeless individuals. She is currently working in the area of public benefits, specifically, public assistance, SNAP benefits, and Medicaid. Espy is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received her J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts.
