Bryan O’Keefe is a Partner at Seyfarth Shaw in Washington, DC. He represents employers in and labor and employment transactional due diligence and counseling, with a particular emphasis on mergers, acquisitions, and bankruptcies. Mr. O’Keefe has led labor and employment due diligence on more than 1,500 deals in both private equity and public company acquisitions. Mr. O’Keefe also represents employers in a wide range of traditional labor law matters, including representation proceedings, union elections, unfair labor practice charges and complaints, corporate campaigns, strikes, arbitrations, grievances, collective bargaining, and traditional labor law counseling. In addition to his vibrant transactional and traditional labor practice, Mr. O’Keefe also represents employers in employment law matters, in particular non-compete cases and wage and hour litigation. Prior to Seyfarth Shaw, Mr. O’Keefe was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis in its Washington, DC office. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. O’Keefe was a public policy consultant on labor, employment, and higher education in Washington, DC for several think tanks and trade associations, working with organizations such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, H.R. Policy Association, and American Enterprise Institute.
Mr. O’Keefe is an active member of the American Bar Association Committee on Practice and Practice under the National Labor Relations Act and Committee on the Development of the Law under the National Labor Relations Act. Mr. O’Keefe is the Management Co-Chair for the P&P Region V Committee, and was selected to give a presentations at the 2017 & 2019 P&P Midwinter Meetings. Mr. O’Keefe is a contributing editor to the Developing Labor Law and has been a contributing editor to the Fair Labor Standards Act Treatise and Employment Law Deskbook. His traditional labor law writing as an attorney has also frequently appeared in Bender’s Labor and Employment Bulletin. Mr. O’Keefe has also authored more than 40 op-eds and articles in major newspapers and websites, assisted in writing or researching 10 monographs or books, and was cited in numerous media outlets, including NPR and the BBC, for commentary on labor and employment issues and legislation.
Mr. O’Keefe graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law. While in law school, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Penn State Law Review and was the sole national student representative on the American Bar Association’s Council on Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, which serves as the national law school accrediting agency. Mr. O’Keefe graduated Summa Cum Laude from the George Washington University with a B.A. in Political Communications.
