Adrienne Valencia Garcia is currently IBM’s Chief Senior Counsel for Blockchain Solutions, a first-of-a-kind role created in April 2017 when she was completing a 3 year assignment in Latin America. As Chief Counsel for Blockchain, Adrienne is the worldwide focal for all blockchain related engagements and oversees the global members of the law department who support blockchain transactions. In this role, Adrienne has become a recognized leader in the space and sought-after speaker.
Adrienne joined IBM in June 2006 after practicing as a litigator in NYC for 10 years. She was initially a member of the New York City Regional Counsel’s office doing client-facing transactional work. From there she moved on to support the Open Infrastructure Offering team focusing on bundling huge hardware and software deals, including leading a $1B+ deal with a multinational financial institution. In 2011, Adrienne joined the Public Sector Services team working on outsourcing deals for individual US states and health care companies. Then in August 2014, she relocated to Mexico City to take on the role of Latin America’s Lead Counsel for IBM’s Global Consulting Services business and co-leader for IBM’s internal Latin America law department education efforts.
Adrienne holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in NYC and is currently serving as a 2018 Leadership Council for Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow.
