CLE Requirements: The North Dakota Commission for Continuing Legal Education requires attorneys to complete 45 credits, including 3 ethics credits, by June 30 every three years. All credits must be reported by July 30 of the reporting year. Attorneys are limited to 15 credits of self-study per reporting period. Compliance period year ends are assigned based on admission to the Bar. Consult the State Bar Association of North Dakota to confirm your compliance period end date. No credits may be carried over. For additional information, please see the FAQ page on the North Dakota Commission for Continuing Legal Education website.
Coronavirus update: As a result of the restrictions imposed on in-person conferences because of COVID-19, the North Dakota CLE Commission temporarily suspended ND CLE Policy 1.15. Attorneys in Reporting Group 3, who reported in 2020, were allowed to earn all or a portion of the required 45 credits through self-study. Three (3) ethics CLE hours will still be required.
The North Dakota Supreme Court also issued an order that extended the deadline for completing continuing education to September 1, 2020.
