North Carolina
CLE Requirements: The North Carolina State Bar Continuing Legal Education Department requires attorneys to complete 12 credits, including 2 professional responsibility credits and 1 technology credit, by December 31 every year. All credits must be reported by the last day of February of the following year. One professional responsibility credit devoted to substance abuse credit must be completed every three years. A maximum of 12 credits, including 2 professional responsibility credits, may be carried over to the next reporting period. The deadline to report all 2020 CLE hours is March 1, 2021.
Beginning in 2020, members may take all of their CLE hours online. For members trying to satisfy a deficit prior to 2020, they may take up to six hours of online credit each year towards their CLE requirements. PLI is an Accredited Sponsor with the North Carolina State Bar Continuing Legal Education Department. Providers are required to submit applications for each program.
Attendance Reporting: PLI reports attendance to the North Carolina State Bar Continuing Legal Education Department, which will provide a form annually for reporting attendance.
